2001 A Space Oddity


Two things of note, regards the release of the video by CopterPack in recent days.

Firstly, despite its apparent simplicity you can be sure that much work and testing has preceded this pulling of a rabbit from a hat, as can be appreciated from this briefest of glimpses of the nuts-and-bolts.

Secondly... 2001, and Time Magazine's inventions of the year:


It went to Moller's Skycar and Moshier's Aerotrek respectively.

And what did they have in common? Basically inventing types of flying machine ahead of their time by practically a generation.

This in itself is nothing new. The Wright Brothers succeeded a century prior because the internal combustion engine was just beginning to do for aeroplanes what electric motors are doing now for vertical flight.
