Purchase History


An overlay shows the benefits of pitching propellers at corners of the frame instead of sides, as a means of increasing both lift and control: the square at the outside being practically half as large again as that inside. It means that besides reducing the overall size and weight of the frame ~ making it more rigid ~ we'll have more leverage whilst flying a suspended payload.

Plan is to replicate the frame at the base of the box to form undercarriage and so that if ever we need to add more power, it can be done either at the base or else up top in X-8 configuration.

We needn't be discouraged by using four motors instead of eight, nor by suspending the payload from the drone. A team in Germany did so successfully: machine weighing 70kg and passenger 80kg (and caption the first post of many in response to the video).
